Overview
The Great Barrier Reef stretches 2,300 km and is a UNESCO Natural Heritage Site — the world's largest coral reef system. Home to around 1,500 tropical fish species, 400 coral species, and 30 whale and dolphin species, it is one of the planet's richest marine ecosystems. From Cairns, speedboats reach Green Island, Fitzroy Island, and Outer Reef dive sites in 45 minutes to 2 hours. Semi-submarine tours and helicopter flights let you enjoy the reef even without swimming. Day tours AUD 200-350 (snorkel gear and lunch included). Depart from Reef Fleet Terminal.
