Overview
About 80km (1.5 hours by road) west of Medellín, Santa Fe de Antioquia is a beautifully preserved colonial town and the former capital of Antioquia province. Whitewashed buildings with wooden balconies and cobblestone lanes transport visitors back to the 16th century. The central Santa Bárbara square is flanked by churches and cafes, and the Puente de Occidente (1887) to the west was South America's first suspension bridge. The warm climate (27°C year-round) makes tamarind candy a signature treat.
