Overview
The Pre-Columbian Gold Museum (Museo del Oro Precolombino) sits beneath Plaza de la Cultura in central San José, housing more than 1,600 gold artifacts crafted by Costa Rica's indigenous peoples from 500 BC to the Spanish conquest. Finely wrought animal and human-figure jewelry, ceremonial tools, and exhibits on goldsmithing techniques are highlights. A collection of Costa Rica's historical currency adds another dimension.
