Costa Rica's capital and the gateway to Central America, known for its museums and markets. Suburban areas like Escazú and Santa Ana have modern malls and restaurants, and the city is the launch point for Arenal Volcano and Monteverde. The 'pura vida' (pure life) spirit runs through it all.
