Overview
With 3,418 rooms, the Royal Palace of Madrid is Europe's largest royal palace, surpassing Versailles in size. Built in the 18th century in Italian Baroque style, it is used today only for state ceremonies and otherwise open as a museum. Highlights include the Throne Room, the Hall of Mirrors, a Stradivarius collection, and the Royal Armoury. The Changing of the Guard takes place at the main gate every Wednesday and Saturday. The Sabatini Gardens and Campo del Moro gardens are also lovely. Admission about EUR 14 (free for EU citizens in the last 2 hours). 3-minute walk from Metro Ópera station (Lines 2/5/Ramal).

Travel Tips
