Overview
Built around the 2nd century BC in Egyptian Nubia, the Temple of Debod was gifted to Spain by the Egyptian government in 1968 in gratitude for Spain's help saving Nubian monuments from the Aswan Dam flooding. It was dismantled stone by stone and rebuilt at its current site. Admission is free, and it is a short walk from Príncipe Pío or Plaza de España metro stations (lines 3, 6, 10, R). The temple is especially famous as one of Madrid's best sunset spots, with the reflecting pool glowing at dusk.
