Overview

Once home to the treasurers of medieval York Minster, this house was remodeled several times after the 17th century and is now managed as a museum by the National Trust. It displays the furniture and art collection of wealthy early-20th-century businessman Frank Green, and is famous for one of Britain's best-known ghost stories — a plumber's 1953 account of seeing Roman legionary ghosts marching through the cellar walls.
