Overview
Completed in 1936 in Neoclassical style, Cork City Hall replaced the previous building, burned down by British forces in 1920 during the Irish War of Independence (the Burning of Cork). Built of white Limerick limestone, its grand facade along the River Lee makes it one of Cork's defining landmarks. It doubles as a concert hall and hosts major events like the Cork Jazz Festival. Free to view exterior; interior open during events. 10-minute walk from the English Market.
