Overview
Opened in 1983, Fota is Ireland's largest open-range wildlife park, letting visitors observe giraffes, kangaroos, cheetahs and some 90 species in habitats designed without cages. It runs one of Europe's most successful cheetah breeding programs, with numerous cubs born here each year. The adjacent Fota House (an 18th-century Georgian mansion) and arboretum make it a popular full-day family outing. Admission about EUR 18-20. About 25 minutes from Cork by train.
