Overview
First built in the 9th century and rebuilt several times, the tower collapsed suddenly in 1902 and was rebuilt to its original design by 1912. At about 98.6 meters, it is Venice's tallest structure; an elevator carries visitors to the observation deck for sweeping views over St. Mark's Square, the Grand Canal, the lagoon, and surrounding islands. Admission is about EUR 12-15, and early morning or evening visits help avoid long queues in peak season.
