Overview

Wat Botum (officially Wat Botum Vatey Reachavararam) is one of Phnom Penh's five ancient pagodas, built under royal patronage and closely tied to the monarchy. Located just south of Independence Monument, its grounds also hold a memorial stupa honoring Khmer Rouge victims, giving it historical weight as well. The gilded roofs and tranquil courtyard make it a peaceful escape in the city center. Free admission (donations welcome). A 5-minute walk from Independence Monument.
