Overview
The Bahirawakanda Vihara Buddha is a 27 m white seated Buddha on a hill west of Kandy — a landmark visible from anywhere in the city. Erected in 1972 and home to an active temple and meditation center, the terrace beside the statue offers panoramic views of Kandy city, the lake, and the Temple of the Tooth. Sunset visits show the city glowing gold. Admission LKR 200. About 10 minutes by tuk-tuk from central Kandy.
