Overview
Created in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinha, Kandy Lake sits next to the Temple of the Tooth and is a peaceful oasis at the city's center. A 3km walking path encircles it, winding between palms and tropical trees. The small island in the lake once held a royal summer pavilion and is now used as a police station. Free to walk around. A 3-minute walk from the Temple of the Tooth.
