Overview
The Hanthana Mountain Range lies southwest of Kandy and was designated an environmental protection area in 2010. Trekking trails of varying difficulty cater to beginners and experienced hikers alike, and near the summit, panoramic views open up over Kandy city, its lake, and surrounding tea estates. Adjacent to the University of Peradeniya campus, it's also a beloved hiking spot for students. Free admission. About 20 minutes by car from central Kandy.
