Overview
Built atop a rocky outcrop during the 14th-century Gampola era, Lankatilaka Vihara showcases a unique fusion of a Buddhist shrine hall with four small Hindu devale shrines. Originally four stories, only two remain today, with walls painted with Jataka tales depicting the Buddha's past lives. Pairs well with Embekka and Gadaladeniya on a 'three temples' tour. Admission about LKR 300. About 20 minutes by car from Kandy.
