Overview
Designated in 2002, Kaudulla National Park centers on an ancient reservoir built in the 5th century. Adjacent to Minneriya National Park, elephants often move between the two parks during the dry season (August-October), making Kaudulla a good alternative when Minneriya gets crowded. Around the reservoir, visitors may spot wild elephant herds, waterfowl, and even leopards, making it ideal for those seeking a quieter safari. Jeep safari about LKR 6,000-8,000 + separate admission. About 40 minutes by car from Sigiriya.
