Overview
About 30 minutes by car from Sigiriya, Minneriya National Park covers some 88 sq km and is famous for 'The Gathering.' From June to October, 200-300 wild elephants gather around the reservoir — a natural phenomenon documented by BBC and National Geographic. Beyond elephants, you may spot deer, water buffalo, and over 100 bird species, making it a sambar for safari fans. Jeep safari about LKR 6,000-8,000 per vehicle + LKR 3,500 admission (foreigners). About 30 minutes by car from Sigiriya.
