Overview
El Rey Ruins sit right in the middle of Cancun's Hotel Zone, preserving 47 structures from a Late Maya city. Maya fishermen and traders lived here in the 13th-16th centuries, and the name comes from a royal tomb discovered atop the largest temple. It's the only Maya site accessible on foot from the Hotel Zone, and wild iguanas roaming the ruins make it a hit with families. A good way to sample Maya culture without traveling all the way to Chichen Itza or Tulum. Admission MXN 75. Hotel Zone km 17.5.
Opening Hours
