Overview
Construction of the Church of Our Lady (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk) began in the 13th century and continued over several centuries. Its 122.3m brick tower is the second-tallest brick structure in the world. The church's greatest treasure is Michelangelo's marble 'Madonna of Bruges' — the only Michelangelo work to leave Italy during his lifetime. The elaborate funerary monuments of Charles the Bold and Mary of Burgundy are also must-sees. Nave free; Michelangelo section about EUR 7. 5-minute walk from city centre.
Opening Hours
Mon-Sat 09:30-17:00, Sun 13:30-17:00.
Travel Tips
The Michelangelo sculpture is in a separate ticketed area. The Gruuthuse Museum is right next door and easy to combine.
