Overview
The Gruuthuse Museum is housed in the 15th-century palace of the wealthy Gruuthuse spice merchant family and explores 500 years of Bruges's history. Renovated and reopened in 2019, it displays medieval tapestries, lace, weapons, furniture, and ceramics. The Gothic building itself is an architectural masterpiece, and the private chapel connecting to the Church of Our Lady is particularly striking. The terrace on the second floor offers a beautiful view of the canal and church tower. Admission about EUR 14. 5-minute walk from city centre.
Opening Hours
Tue-Sun 09:30-17:00 (closed Mon).
Travel Tips
Combine with the Church of Our Lady (which houses Michelangelo's 'Madonna and Child'). Don't miss the canal view from the second-floor terrace.
