Overview
Designed by Gaudí over four years from 1906, this was his last secular building. Commissioned as a residence by Pere Milà and Roser Segimon, its rough stone exterior earned the nickname 'La Pedrera' (the Quarry). With virtually no straight lines or flat surfaces, it was the first of Gaudí's works to be inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. The rooftop's helmeted chimneys are said to have inspired Darth Vader in Star Wars, and from the roof you can see Sagrada Familia and downtown Barcelona. Day-pass admission about EUR 28; night light show about EUR 35. 3-minute walk from Metro Diagonal (Lines 3/5).
Opening Hours
09:00-20:30 (varies by season; night show 21:00-23:00)
Travel Tips
The night 'Origins' light show with wine on the rooftop is a unique experience well worth the splurge.
