Overview
Opened in 1930, Debrecen's flagship museum grew from the collection of the silk-merchant Deri brothers. It is best known for Mihaly Munkacsy's monumental Christ Trilogy of religious paintings, and also displays ancient Egyptian artifacts, East Asian art and ethnographic treasures. The Art Deco building itself is a beauty, offering a deep look at the natural history and folk culture of the Great Plain region.
