Overview
Founded in 1538, this is one of Hungary's oldest educational institutions and was the heart of the Reformation in Debrecen, once dubbed the 'Calvinist Rome.' The Neoclassical building stands just behind the Great Church and houses a historic library with over 650,000 volumes. The museum covers the history of Hungarian Protestantism and displays artifacts related to Kossuth's declaration of independence. The ornate Oratory's murals are also impressive. Admission about HUF 1,500. 1-minute walk from the Great Church.
