Overview
A UNESCO World Heritage Site preserving the Hungarian puszta (Great Plain), Hortobagy is defined by endless grasslands and a unique ecosystem. Visitors can experience traditional Hungarian herding culture and see native breeds like Hungarian Grey Cattle, Racka sheep and Nonius horses. Autumn brings Europe's largest crane migration, and the Hortobagy Nine-Hole Bridge is Hungary's longest stone bridge.

About 40 minutes by bus from Debrecen. Visit in September-October to witness tens of thousands of migrating cranes.
