Overview
Built in 1255 as Florence's first town hall and later used as a police headquarters (Bargello), the building opened in 1865 as Italy's first national sculpture museum. It holds the essence of Renaissance sculpture: Donatello's David (the first freestanding bronze nude since antiquity), Michelangelo's early Bacchus and Brutus, and works by Cellini and Giambologna. Admission about EUR 9. A 5-minute walk between the Uffizi and the Duomo.
