Overview
Built in the 1590s under Grand Duke Ferdinando I de' Medici and designed by architect Buontalenti, this star-shaped defensive fortress also served to safeguard the Medici family's treasures. True to its name ('beautiful view'), it commands a sweeping panorama from the Duomo to the Arno River. Today it doubles as a cultural venue hosting temporary art exhibitions, and can be reached via a path connected to the Boboli Gardens. There's no standing admission fee, though special exhibitions may charge entry.
Opening Hours
Open only during special exhibition periods, roughly 10:00-18:00 (varies by exhibition schedule)
