Overview
Begun in the 15th century by banker Luca Pitti in a bid to outshine the Medici, the Pitti Palace ended up sold to the Medici themselves, and from the 16th century became their official residence (and later the Habsburgs' and Savoys'). The Palatine Gallery brims with works by Raphael, Titian, and Caravaggio, alongside Costume and Royal Jewels museums. Behind the palace, the 1549 Boboli Gardens are the prototype of the Italian formal garden, with sculptures, fountains, and grottoes spanning the 16th to 19th centuries - the inspiration behind Versailles. Combined admission about EUR 22. 5-minute walk from Ponte Vecchio.
Opening Hours
