Overview
Opened in 1999, this is the world's only museum devoted to systematically collecting modern and contemporary art from 23 Asian countries and regions — some 5,000 works seen through Asian eyes rather than a Western canon. It also hosts the Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale. Set on the 7th-8th floors of Hakata Riverain, directly above Nakasu-Kawabata Station, with a bargain JPY 200 permanent collection — ideal for rainy days alongside Canal City and Kushida Shrine.
