Ohori Park

Chuo-ku, Fukuoka

Overview

Opened in 1929 on the outer moat (o-hori) of Fukuoka Castle and modeled on Hangzhou's West Lake, the park strings islands together with bridges across the water, dotted with a red pavilion and swan boats. The 2km lakeside loop is a running mecca, the south side holds a strolling Japanese garden (JPY 250), and Fukuoka Castle's ruins adjoin to the east — a perfect half-day amble, with lakeside cafés including a popular Starbucks.

💰 Tickets

Free; only the Japanese garden charges JPY 250.
