Overview
A roughly 300-hectare national park on the sandbar between Hakata Bay and the Genkai Sea. Nemophila and rapeseed color the hills in spring, cosmos in autumn; a 12km cycling course rides the sea breeze (rental bikes about JPY 700 for 3 hours). An animal forest with kangaroos and capybaras, giant playgrounds and a summer pool make it a family favorite. Take the Uminakaline ferry from Hakata Pier and the 20-minute crossing doubles as a mini cruise.
