Overview
Sakae is Nagoya's biggest downtown, dense with department stores and malls, and at its heart floats Oasis 21 (2002) — the glass 'Spaceship-Aqua' roof with water flowing across it. Walk the free rooftop deck for views of the Mirai Tower and Hisaya-odori Park below, with a bus terminal and shops beneath. The classic Nagoya photo frames the illuminated spaceship against the tower at dusk. Add the anime and game shops underground and a stroll through the renewed RAYARD Hisaya-odori Park for an easy half day.
Opening Hours
Rooftop deck 10:00-21:00; shops roughly 10:00-21:00
🚇 Getting there
Directly connected to Sakae Station (Higashiyama and Meijo subway lines), toward Exit 4.
⏱️ How long to visit
About 1.5-2 hours; half a day with shopping.
🌅 Best time to visit
Sunset into evening is best, and Friday-Saturday nights are the district at full tilt.
