Overview
At about 3.7 hectares, this is the Chubu region's largest pond-strolling garden, composed as a 'story of water': its hill stands for Mt. Ontake, its stream for the Kiso River, its pond for Ise Bay — the region's geography in miniature. The Seiu-tei teahouse, shaped like a swan alighting, serves matcha and sweets (fee), and weeping cherries, irises and maples mirror on the pond through the seasons. A short walk from Atsuta Shrine, it's the city's quietest retreat.
