Osu Shopping District

Naka-ku, Nagoya

Overview

Fanning out from the vermilion Osu Kannon temple, eight arcades hold some 1,200 shops — Nagoya's biggest and liveliest market district. Born as an Edo-era temple town, it now jumbles vintage clothing, electronics, anime and subculture shops with street food from around the world. Graze on karaage and Taiwanese castella as you wander, and catch the antique market in the temple grounds on the 18th and 28th of each month. Think Ameyoko crossed with Harajuku.
