Overview
Founded in 1877, the Colombo National Museum is Sri Lanka's largest, housed in a colonial-era Italian Renaissance-style building. Its roughly 100,000 artifacts include the Kandyan dynasty's crown and throne, ancient Buddha images, traditional masks, and colonial relics, offering a comprehensive view of Sri Lankan history. Reproductions of Sigiriya-style frescoes from Bixwell Viharaya are also on display. Admission LKR 1,000 for foreigners. In the Cinnamon Gardens (Colombo 7) area, reachable by tuk-tuk.
