Overview
Beside Colombo's Beira Lake, Gangaramaya is one of Sri Lanka's most important Buddhist temples. Its unique architecture mixes Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian, and Chinese styles, and the interiors display thousands of Buddha statues and religious artifacts. Every February, the Navam Perahera (Lantern Festival) features a dazzling procession of elephants and traditional dancers. Admission about LKR 500. On Galle Road; reachable on foot or by tuk-tuk.
