Overview
Viharamahadevi Park is Colombo's largest city park at about 32 hectares, laid out in 1922 as Victoria Park during the British era and renamed in 1958. A massive golden Buddha statue greets visitors at the entrance, and fountains, a botanical garden, a children's playground, and a mini zoo make it a great family spot. It sits right next to the Colombo National Museum and Town Hall — easy to add to a downtown route. Free admission. In Colombo 7's Cinnamon Gardens.
