Overview
Built in 1749 during the Dutch colonial era, Wolvendaal Church in the Pettah district is one of Sri Lanka's oldest surviving churches. Its thick coral-stone walls and cross-shaped layout are notable, and the interior holds elaborate tombstones of Dutch colonial officials of considerable historical value. A tranquil refuge in contrast to the bustle of Pettah Market, it offers deep insight into Colombo's colonial history. Free admission (donations welcome). A 10-minute walk from Pettah Market.
