Overview
Built in 1656 by Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar I, the Old Friday Mosque (Hukuru Miskiy) is the Maldives' oldest mosque — a unique structure carved from coral stone. The Arabic calligraphy and floral motifs etched into its walls and interior columns are masterpieces of Maldivian craftsmanship, and it is on UNESCO's tentative World Heritage list. The 19th-century stone minaret next door is also a draw. Free exterior viewing (interior Muslim-only). Next to the Grand Friday Mosque.
Opening Hours
Exterior 24 hours (interior Muslim worshipers only)
