The compact yet lively capital of the Maldives, marked by colorful buildings and Islamic culture. The golden dome of the Grand Friday Mosque, the bustling tuna auction at the Fish Market, and the Buddhist-to-Islamic history exhibits at the National Museum are Male's three sights. As one of the world's most densely populated cities, wandering its narrow alleys offers a unique glimpse into local life. A half-day city tour before or after a resort check-in is recommended.
