Overview
Opened in 1907, the Kaufhaus des Westens ('department store of the west'), known as KaDeWe, spans over 60,000 square meters and stocks more than 380,000 products, making it Europe's second-largest department store. While luxury fashion and beauty brands fill most floors, the true highlight is the sixth-floor gourmet food hall, packed with delicacies, caviar, chocolate, and wine from around the world, plus standing bars where you can taste as you go. The rooftop terrace also offers views over western Berlin.
Opening Hours
Mon-Sat 10:00-20:00, closed Sundays
🚇 Getting there
2-minute walk from U-Bahn Wittenbergplatz (lines U1, U2, U3)
Travel Tips
The sixth-floor food hall is fun just to browse, but treating yourself to oysters or a glass of champagne at a standing bar is worth it. It gets very crowded during sale season.
