Overview
Located at the heart of the Santa Cruz district on Plaza de los Venerables, this building was constructed in 1675 as a retirement home for elderly priests. Considered a masterpiece of Andalusian Baroque architecture, its sunken central patio and underground cistern give it a distinctive charm. The attached church is covered in frescoes by Juan de Valdés Leal and his son, showcasing the essence of Spanish Baroque painting, while the Velázquez Centre lets visitors admire the master's works alongside a contemporary art collection. It's just a few minutes' walk from the Alcázar and Cathedral, making it easy to combine with a visit to those sites.
