Overview
Located on Plaza del Salvador in the Alfalfa district at the heart of the old town, this church was built between 1679 and 1712, designed by Leonardo de Figueroa. It stands on the site of Seville's former Great Mosque from the Islamic era, and some of the mosque's original columns were reused as the building's foundation. During construction the building collapsed once, leading to reinforced foundation work afterward. Inside, richly gilded altarpieces and sculptures showcase the essence of Seville's Baroque religious art, and it's just a 5-minute walk from the Cathedral, making it easy to visit together.
