Overview

Housed in the former Convent of la Merced, the Seville Museum of Fine Arts holds Spain's second most important painting collection after the Prado. It features numerous religious paintings and portraits by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo and other artists of the Seville School, alongside a beautiful Andalusian patio and orange-tree garden perfect for a leisurely stroll. Its galleries flow chronologically, allowing visitors to trace the evolution of Spanish art from medieval times through the 19th century. A statue of Murillo stands in the plaza outside, making it a popular photo spot.
