Overview
Starting in 1786, remains from Paris's overcrowded cemeteries were relocated into disused quarry tunnels, and today around six million skeletons are meticulously stacked along the walls. The public route covers about 1.5 km, a small fraction of the full tunnel network, and visitors pass eerie arrangements of skulls and bones along the cool, dim corridors. There are many stairs, and it isn't recommended for those prone to claustrophobia. Admission is about EUR 29 (online booking required). Right by Metro Denfert-Rochereau (Lines 4/6).
