Overview
Originally built as an orangery for the Tuileries Garden, the building was converted from 1927 into two oval rooms designed specifically to display Monet's eight monumental 'Water Lilies' paintings, which he donated to the French state. Monet himself chose the layout so natural light would wash across the curved, panoramic canvases. The lower level holds the Walter-Guillaume collection, spanning Renoir, Cezanne, Matisse, and Picasso. Admission is about EUR 12.50. A 5-minute walk from Metro Concorde (Lines 1/8/12).
