Overview
The Jakarta History Museum (Fatahillah Museum) occupies the former Batavia City Hall, completed in 1710, on Fatahillah Square in the heart of Kota Tua. Its exhibits trace Jakarta's history from prehistoric times through the Dutch colonial era to independence, using artifacts, furniture, and maps, and colonial-era prison cells remain in the basement. The square outside offers bicycle rentals and street performances.
