Overview

Ragunan Zoo began in 1864 as part of the Batavia botanical garden and moved to its current Ragunan site in 1966, making it Indonesia's oldest zoo. Spanning over 140 hectares, it houses Sumatran tigers, Komodo dragons, orangutans, and many other species, and is especially known for its orangutan breeding program. Low admission fees make it popular with local families.
