Overview
Founded in 1868, the National Museum of Indonesia is Southeast Asia's largest historical and cultural museum, housing over 140,000 artifacts. Collections span from prehistoric relics to Hindu-Buddhist sculptures, ceramics, ethnic costumes, and gold artifacts, offering a comprehensive look at Indonesia's diverse heritage. A modern new wing was added in 2007, and the bronze elephant statue at the entrance earned it the nickname 'Elephant Museum.' Admission IDR 25,000 for foreigners. 10-minute walk from MRT Monas Station.
