Overview
Kota Tua (Old Batavia) was the center of Batavia under the Dutch East India Company (VOC) in the 17th century and is now Jakarta's heritage district. Fatahillah Square is surrounded by colonial buildings including the Jakarta History Museum (former City Hall), Wayang Museum, and the Fine Art and Ceramics Museum. On weekends the square hosts street performances and bicycle rentals, and Cafe Batavia offers coffee steeped in colonial atmosphere. Square free; museum admission about IDR 5,000. A 5-minute walk from TransJakarta Kota Station.
