Overview
Akbar's Tomb in Sikandra on the outskirts of Agra is the mausoleum of the third Mughal emperor, Akbar the Great. Completed in 1613 by his son Jahangir, the tomb blends red sandstone and white marble in a unique design combining Hindu, Islamic, Christian, and Buddhist architectural elements — reflecting Akbar's philosophy of religious tolerance. Deer and monkeys roam freely in the expansive gardens. Admission INR 310 for foreigners. About 20 minutes by taxi from Agra city.
